Jazzed Up Junk 2014

I haven't talked much about Jazzed Up Junk or taken many pictures but it's still happening and it happening soon.  This Wednesday July 23rd starting at 4:00 till 8:00.

A few weeks back I was contacted by a girl to do a interview for a local paper for the Jazzed Up Junk sale.  Of course Jeannie and I were all for that and it came out in this weeks paper.  The text messages, phone calls and people that we seen all weekend commented on how nice the article was.  The girl came with a camera and a notebook but she didn't write anything down.  I'm not sure how she wrote that article on memory but she did a dang good job.

Like I said not many photos have been taken but Jeannie and I did set up a small sample of things for the gal's interview and I took some with my phone.

This weekend I was pricing and lining everything up to haul over to Jeannie's on Tuesday.  Half the garage filled and still lots more to go.    I love to see the colors together and all the pretty stuff in one spot.

Remember my Annie Sloan Red Paint that I bought way back when I went to Junk Bonanza?  Well I cracked it open and painted that tall dress, bar stools and the chair in the back.  The chair in the back I painted the leather, yep painted it and it's fantastic.  I might be hooked on that paint, good thing they don't sell it around here.

Come check us out this week, there is plenty of stuff to make everyone happy with a fun colorful new piece of furniture in their house.

More Cottage Pics from the 4th

Lynn and Jesse came up for Sharon's visit and then since Jesse is off work they decided to stay with us for the next couple days.  They pulled their camper up and Miss Melanie Mae is 10 days old and on her first camping trip.  She was perfect.

Mallory loved the dragon flies so I had to keep taking their picture too.

We had another visitor one of the mornings.  It was a Luna Moth.

And of course I thought he was cool too.

They have no mouth and they only live for 7 days.  Amazing moth to see and be able to document.

We had a few games of giant Jenga with the kids.

One amazing cloud across the river during sun set.

Our Luna again another morning.

Miss Melanie did a lot of sleeping and snuggling with Grandma

In the morning you will always find Jesse and Maggie sitting down by the river taking in the beautiful view.

Max and Mally love to throw sticks for Maggie to fetch.

I had about 50 shots of Maggie shaking off the water but I'll spare you and only show you a couple.

Finding a frog

Lynn, Jesse, Mally, Max and John all went down the river one morning while I spent time with Melanie.

In about 1 minute I could be by one of the bridges that they would go under and 15 minutes later they make it that far.

What great memories for the kids to have.

Family Visit Up North at the Cottage

For the 4th we spent 7 days up north at the cottage and loved every minute of it.  Kayaking, sitting in the water, family, games, camp fires, cheeseburgers, garage sales, 4 wheeling, you name it we packed it into our time up there.  On Sunday my sister Sharon and some of her family were home so we the family gathering at the cottage.  I think everyone who could make it had a great time.

We took one group up the river to kayak down to the cottage.  Rachael, Ellen, Gayle, Jarrod, & Sharon were all ready for their trip.

Starla did a few paddle lessons while they were still safely on the ground.

Gayle was their guide and everyone did great.

It takes 4 minutes to drive to the drop off point and 55 minutes to paddle back.  Here they are coming around the bend by the cottage.

While they were out a tough game of giant Jenga was being played.  There are lots of ways to play this game.  Starla drops the block on the top and hopes it doesn't fall.

Wally studies it from a far and while it's his turn trying to "see" the block that is loose.

View of the fun happening.

Jesse takes chances and sometimes they work and............ twice in a row they didn't.  (there was a point when he wasn't getting picked on anyones team)

Sharon did the pull and pray method.

Gayle, Rachael, Mally and I went out again for kayaking.  While we were goofing around Mally and I were next to Gayle and she grabs a branch from a tree and that branch flipped her right over into the water.  At that spot the bottom was gross and she's screaming and flopping around to get back into her kayak.  Poor Mally was shocked and I laughed and laughed at her.  She gets back into her kayak with about 3/4 of it full of water.  She had to paddle back to the cottage.  Mally thought she could catch fish inside her kayak.  Jesse and Gayle trying to empty it out.

Jacob and Melanie sharing Melanie's bug tent.

Max was pretty good at the game.

But he played the "I'm to short" card.

Mally and I coming in from our ride........ dry as a bone!!

Jarrod thought he could master this game.

And Barb LOVES this game (not really but we force her to play it and she complains the entire time)

Rachael does the pull fast drop it on the top and run like hell method.  And it worked!!

I do the knock on every board to find the loose one just waiting to be pulled out.

And Elly totally had to chance, I'm not sure how Rachael and I managed it.

My sister Sharon and her grandson Jacob

The day was memorable and I can't wait for another family gathering.
