Wedding time

This weekend Adam had a wedding he was standing up for.  He's stood up for weddings for family many times in his life but this was his first for a friend.  Eric and him lived together while they went to tech school.  Eric is also Jr.'s godfather.  We all love Eric and wished the best for him.  The wedding was at the winery and very casual.  Adam is the skinny guy on the far right. :)

I was in a horrible spot for taking pictures for two reasons.  1) many heads in front of me 2) the photographers were on both sides of me and I wanted to stay out of their way.  Being a photographer at a wedding and having someone else get in your way is quite frustrating so I captured Jr trying to climb the pole instead.

Jr playing toys after the wedding, it was very cold and we were there to take Jr home when he got tired.  (come on Jr get tired and crabby, grandma is freezing)

Eric is a logger and their decorations reflected his love for the woods.

And a little Melissa charm

Eric's dad was also a woods worker and died from a heart attack while out in the woods.  This was his memorial.

I quick iPhone picture of Adam, Adam and Monica

Great wedding, great food and frozen feet..... come on Jr get crabby just once......

Storm Damage Up North

We had storms here on Thursday morning but nothing terrible, it got black and winds starting whipping and the rain came down in sheets and dropped a couple inches in a short time.  It really wasn't that terrible however on Friday John heard our little town up north on the news and how bad it was up there.  His gut feeling was to drive up on Friday night to check things out.  So we did and as we are driving down the few side roads there are trees that were cut off the roads in many locations.  Our guts started to hurt and the truck got slower and slower not wanting to know what we would find.

It's like a train wreck we want to see but don't want to see..... we are stretching our necks to see inside the yard before we even get there and everything looks good.  John says "I think we're fine" and then I say "I don't think that's good"  One of our trees fell near the house and took the power line down with it, it pulled the wire off the cottage and laid it right down onto the LP tank with the tree on top of it.

John went to check inside to see if we had power yet, we did, not sure why but that was the best news ever.  It pulled it off the house but the line fell off the pole which gave it enough slack to stretch it down vs pulling it out.

We headed to the neighbors to call the electric company and wait for them to get there.  We headed to the other side of the cottage and there are branches everywhere and the river is really high.

We could sit in our chairs and put our feet in the water.

While we waited I picked up some of the branches.

Another big tree is down that will take a bit to get it out.

The electric guys got there and they asked what was the issue.  John told him the power line was lying down onto the LP tank.... the guy says "well move the LP tank, it's not our issue"  He was a pretty funny guy and was dragging.  He had about 2 hours of sleep since the storm went through and we are his last stop before he can go home.

He wasn't scared he went right in there and started cutting the tree off the wire.

Then they had to reattach the wires to the house.  He came down that ladder pretty quickly and said "I'm done, there are black jacket bees under the siding"  He handed us a can of spray and said if you got power we will be back on Monday.  Bees are gone and we'll have to clean up the mess when they are done.

We didn't plan on spending the night but cleaning and burning the branches sounded like too much fun.

Labor Day Weekend Up North

Labor Day weekend up north... Lynn, Jesse and the kids brought up their camper and Adam and Jr came up too.  It was a bit cool one morning (or two) and this was my view from the kitchen.

Boys playing games on their phones......

Melanie might be a bit bored with the boy stuff.

After the girls went garage sailing the sun kinda came out and warmed up a bit to sit by the fire.  Melanie is a big fan of the outdoors and Grandpa Greats swing was her favorite spot.

She's starting to be so smiley and recognizes our voices.  She is such a good baby, hardly ever cries.

Jr is still a really good boy, he plays so hard all day long and by bedtime he doesn't even wiggle.

The cousins played toys so well together.

Gayle spent Saturday afternoon with us and spent most of her time playing with the kids.

It did get warm enough for a kayak ride for the boys.  The river is high again so it didn't take them long to get back.

Ended our night with a Jenga game.  We played elimination if you lost..... Usually I do pretty well at the game by this time I was second person sent to the dog pound.

Since I was out it gave me time to finally get pictures of the campers in the yard.   I love this look until the day they all pull out.

Mallory was still in the game and she was really good at it.

Max and Mally doing their yoga practice.

Jerry and Steph were up too,  Steph trying to hid behind the leaning tower and make a record move.  She started row 33

Then it was John's turn........ he joined me in the Dog Pound!!

Even with the rain and cooler weather we had a great time, it was such a relaxing weekend and great to wake up and do it all over again.

Family Sneak Peak

It's been awhile since I've seen this family, it was time for some family picture - overgrown wild weeds and sunshine were a great combo.

It's been so fun to watch the girls grow and now Jack is a great addition to their cuteness.

With these kids you never know what you're going to get besides a night of laughs.  No matter what they are great memories.
