Up North Nature Walk

A busy weekend at the cottage in a short time.  We headed up north on Friday afterwork, we had a few jobs to do.  Friday night we needed to get the bathroom sink put back together so we could turn on the water.  John and the neighbor went up a few weeks ago to install a new faucet.... well they came home with the faucet not installed and the entire sink in the back of the truck.  Let's just say they got a bit carried away and needed more parts to put everything back together.

Putting the sink back together was a bit interesting and a little wet but we got it in plenty of time to sit by the water for a bit before it was too dark.  I haven't taken pictures there for awhile so I decided to get out the camera and take night photos of the river.

There was a tree that had hundreds of birds in it and they would swoop at the water, I tried to get a photo of them so I could zoom up to see what they were.  They were quite far away and it was pretty dark so this is the best I could get.

John and I think they are Cedar Waxwings

Saturday morning we got more jobs checked off the list.  I poly'ed the livingroom and dining room floors, John cleaned the insulation off the heat pipes in the basement, I primed one of the rooms and we managed to sit by the fire for a few hours enjoying the afternoon sunshine.  I grabbed my camera again for a little nature walk.  I'm not a sitter....... I do much better up north cuz there's not quite as many distractions for me :)

It took lots of convincing each other that we had to leave Saturday afternoon since we had some things to do back home.  It was a great weekend, we got lots done at the cottage and at home.

Pig in the Pines 2013

One of my favorite weekends just got wrapped up.  We had such a blast again this year, it's always a good time spent with the neighbors up north.  We started out Friday night with supper at a bar and there was a situation going on in there that had us rolling on the ground laughing.  A german woman walked through the bar while a drunk man was singing very loudly and in mid song he shouts "holy {insert naughty f word} it's raining out?"  This woman was drenched and wearing a rain coat.  It wasn't raining.... the rest of the story would just sound crazy so we'll just stop it here.

We spent Saturday and Sunday on the pontoon.
Our favorite place to be

I can't take credit for this photo.  I handed the camera to Paul and he took this one during one of our beach landings.  I love the shot.... Brad was splashing his son Adam.

Love the guy fishing in his kayak.

Loons pretty close to us.

And then we got really super close to an eagle perched in a tree.  He's sitting with his back to us but his head can almost spin all the way around.

Then he took off.  Such a beautiful bird.

We also went to Pig in the Pines and had fantastic ribs.  I ate a couple bits of funnel cake for the very first time.  Seriously I've never tasted a funnel cake and it was my new best friend....................
Until the beer on top of it made it grow twice as big in my stomach..........
I will never eat funnel cake again.

Miserable for a few hours but nothing a few drinks and laughter couldn't fix.

It was a great weekend, we didn't starve and certainly kept ourselves hydrated.

Elly and Mally Overload

I promised I'd overload you with photos so here they are.

Here is where I'm explaining to Mally how she has to look into the lens so I can see her pretty eyes.  She bent forward and looked right into the lens.... so cute.

Mally has such an imagination, we were walking along and she grabs a stick and holds it above her head and says "Grandma I got us a flashlight so we can see where we are going"  She held that stick above her head the whole time and would set it down for pictures.

Should have brought her a lantern.....

Miss El doesn't need much direction, she is a natural.  She just keeps posing in her own little way.

She sure can rock a serious photo.

Such a tall thin little girl.  Lynn and I were trying to steal her shoes all night.

Here I think I said something to embarrass her.

She wanted to try a side part with a serious look.... she's quite the girl.

Typical Mallory look.

These girls love to play dress up at my house so I brought along their dress up clothes.  They will go upstairs and play dress up for hours.  Elly is having a good time finding my shoes..... because they are pretty close to fitting her.  Here she has my new pink sandals, I have to make sure they aren't on her feet every time she leaves.

Maxwell wanted his turn too.  Of course when Lynn wanted to dress him cute at home he wanted nothing to do with it.

Lynn was a bit scared that I put him up on that wall but he did great.  Nothing to worry about momma.
